The hunter has only recorded one new case of COVID-19, linked to the elderly care cluster.

The person, from Anglican Care’s Jesmond Grove facility, was not contagious in the community.

The new case brings the total number of cases in the current outbreak to 164, with 143 active cases.

“Newcastle is moving in and I just want to thank the response in this region,” Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr Kerry Chant said.

“It’s always important that we stay the course there. “

New South Wales has registered 753 new local cases today, including three for the central coast.
