‘American Idol’ Alum Hunter Metts Teases New Music On The Way

american idol alum Hunter Metts teased that he has new music on the way. The singer made his return to Instagram in a cinematic image. Hunter has announced that his new single “Open” will be available on February 25. This is Hunter’s first social media post since October 2021. He also went private on his Twitter while working on his new music.

“Hi, it’s been a while. My new song ‘Open’ will be released on February 25th,” Hunter wrote.

Fans haven’t heard from the singer since he released ‘20,000 Kisses’ in the summer of 2021. The video has been viewed almost 100,000 times on YouTube and the song has reached number one. iTunes singer-songwriter charts. The Tennessee native was on a roll after his stint on Idol. He appeared on the Ellen Degeneres show, sold out the Franklin Theater for two nights and performed a Christmas show with other Idol former Cassandra Coleman.

“Thank you all for giving me the time to understand a little more about myself and creating at a pace that allows me to make the best art possible. Glad to share this with you,” Hunter continued.

The singer knows fans are eagerly awaiting new music and an album. Hunter was a favorite to win American Idol Season 19, but he was eliminated in the Top 7. Fans were outraged and even started a petition for the singer to return to the competition.

During season 19 of Idol viewers have come to know and love Hunter’s passion and sensitivity. Fans remember the soft-spoken singer as the contestant who consistently approved of every performance. He melted hearts for a moment when he forgot the lyrics to Glen Hansard’s “Falling Slowly.” Hunter showed his vulnerability and had to be comforted by judge Katy Perry.

Hunter’s passion for his musicality also showed during his season of Idol. His standout performances with Perry and singer Jewel were highlights of Season 19. With his deep concern for his artistry, it’s no wonder he took so long to announce his new single.
